Mobile financial service Nagad and United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) have signed a strategic partnership to broaden the digital financial services available to their customers. The agreement was signed on 30 September at UCB's corporate head office in Gulshan, Dhaka.
Under the arrangement, inward remittances can be delivered straight into Nagad mobile wallets. UCB customers will also be able to use the Nagad platform to pay loan instalments, deposit monthly savings scheme (DPS) amounts and settle credit card EMI payments. The two sides will also cooperate on customer onboarding and system integration.
Nagad Chief Commercial Officer Mohummed Shahin Sarwar Bhuiyan and UCB Additional Managing Director Adnan Masud signed the deal on behalf of their institutions.
Nagad customers can already collect remittance money around the clock across the country, including in rural and remote areas. The new partnership adds to the service's existing Add Money feature, its interoperability through the National Payment Switch Bangladesh, and its Bangla QR payment option.
