The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed David Hemp as head coach of the national women's team. The 55-year-old has been given a two-year term that runs until September 2028, and he takes over from Sarwar Imran, who had guided the side since February 2025.
Hemp is already well known inside Bangladesh cricket. He has led the board's High Performance programme since May 2023, worked as batting coach of the men's national team in 2024, and was part of the women's coaching staff at the 2025 ODI World Cup Qualifier and the 2026 T20 World Cup Qualifier.
Between 2020 and 2022 he was head coach of Pakistan's women's team, and he has coached Victoria Women and Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League, which gives him first-hand knowledge of Australian conditions.
Hemp will link up with the squad in Brisbane ahead of a three-match ICC Women's Championship ODI series against Australia starting on 9 October. It will be Bangladesh's first bilateral ODI series on Australian soil.
