Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday, 1 October, inaugurated rooftop solar power systems installed on government buildings in Fulgazi, Chhagalnaiya and Parshuram upazilas of Feni. The ceremony was held at the Fulgazi Dak Bungalow during the Prime Minister's daylong visit to the district.

The three installations have a combined capacity of 960.8 kilowatts. Chhagalnaiya accounts for the largest share at 415.6 kW, followed by Parshuram with 295.8 kW and Fulgazi with 249.4 kW. Feni Palli Bidyut Samity and the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board carried out the work.

Electricity generated by the panels will be supplied to the national grid. Officials said the aim is to expand the use of renewable energy in public institutions and reduce reliance on conventional power sources.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Prime Minister launched a tree plantation programme at Begum Khaleda Zia Mohila College in Fulgazi. He handed sports equipment to students there and encouraged them to take part in games and cultural activities alongside their studies.
