Bangladeshi diplomats, business leaders and entrepreneurs living in the United Arab Emirates have called for the formation of a Bangladesh-UAE Joint Business Council to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries. The call came at a meeting in Dubai on Tuesday, 29 September.
Bangladesh Consul General in Dubai Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said the idea of a joint council had been under discussion for a long time and that the UAE side had shown fresh interest in growing bilateral trade. He said such a council could deepen business cooperation and help resolve visa-related difficulties.
FBCCI Administrator Md Fazlul Hoque said the apex trade body would take effective steps soon to set up the council.
Participants also talked about widening market access for Bangladeshi halal products in the Middle East, and an upcoming readymade garment fair in Bangladesh in which several Dubai-based companies have already shown interest.
