The Bangladesh Cricket Board has unveiled Domestic-3, or D3, a new franchise-based competition that brings T20, first-class and List A cricket together under a single structure for the first time. Board president Tamim Iqbal announced the plan in Dhaka, describing it as a way to bring fresh energy back to the country's domestic game.

Six franchises have been confirmed, owned by Walton Group, ACME Laboratories, ACE Blue Star, Citizens Bank, Seven Rings Cement and Fortune Group. Each has signed a three-year agreement and will pay the board roughly Tk 2.5 crore per season. Every franchise will build a 23-member squad that plays in all three formats.

The T20 leg is set to begin on 15 December 2026, followed by the four-day competition in January 2027 and the 50-over event in May 2027. Teams have already been handed icon players, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz going to Walton, Mushfiqur Rahim to Seven Rings Cement and Towhid Hridoy to Fortune Group.

D3 replaces the NCL T20, the BCL four-day and the BCL one-day tournaments. The traditional divisional National Cricket League continues separately, so domestic cricketers have a full season ahead of them.
