Munshiganj district police will be led by a new Superintendent of Police. In a notification issued on Tuesday, 3 November, the Home Ministry's Police-1 branch posted Md Badruddoja, who has been serving as a deputy director with the rank of superintendent of police, as the new SP of Munshiganj. According to the notification, the order was issued in the public interest and takes effect immediately.

The outgoing SP, Md Menhajul Alam, has been transferred to Nilphamari as Superintendent of Police there. Nilphamari's current SP, Md Farhad Hossain Khan, has been posted as Special Superintendent at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Md Badruddoja is from Shahjahanpur in Bogura district and joined the Bangladesh Police in 2010. He had earlier been ordered to take charge in Netrokona, but the new notification cancelled that posting and sent him to Munshiganj instead. The same notification included several other changes, among them new postings for the superintendents of Jamalpur and Barguna.

The Superintendent of Police heads a district's police force and is responsible for its police stations, traffic management and day-to-day public safety. In Munshiganj, that responsibility covers all six upazilas, from Gazaria on the Meghna to Lohajang and Sreenagar near the Padma Bridge and the busy Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, along with river ghats, launch terminals and weekly haats.

A change at the top is also a good moment for residents to reconnect with their local police. Anyone can reach police, fire service and ambulance help at any hour by calling the national emergency number 999, free of charge. Residents can also visit or call their local police station for advice, general diaries and community safety concerns.

The new posting comes as police expand specialised services nationwide. A cyber police unit inaugurated on 1 October provides for district-level cyber teams led by superintendents of police and, over time, a cyber desk at every police station. That plan is expected to bring help with online fraud and harassment closer to districts such as Munshiganj.
