Bangladesh is holding its first national business summit on artificial intelligence today, November 5, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The Bangladesh AI Business Summit 2026 is a joint effort of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Its theme is "AI-fication for Tomorrow's Economy," built on three ideas: people, business and intelligence.

The programme has an opening session, three themed sessions and a business-to-business matchmaking session where companies can meet possible partners. Next to the talks, an AI Business Expo runs with about 150 stalls. Innovators from 20 universities are showing their projects, which gives students a direct line to employers and investors.

Organisers said the President was expected as chief guest at the opening. Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam and DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed are among the speakers.

Why should ordinary businesses care? Many Bangladeshi firms, from garment exporters to small online shops, already try AI tools for design, customer service and accounts. Putting companies, universities and policymakers in one room helps with the harder questions: what skills workers need, how customer data should be protected, and where local startups can compete.

For young people in Munshiganj and other districts, the message is clear. AI skills are turning from a niche interest into a normal job requirement. Seeing university projects at a national expo suggests that the local talent pipeline is starting to take shape.

We will follow up with key announcements from the summit.
